Scott Ries, a longtime Vollmer diamond tool expert, passed away on October 8, 2021.

Scott Ries, known as a diamond processing expert in the woodworking industry, passed away on October 8, 2021, at the age of 63.

Ries has spent his entire career in the industrial diamond industry and is in an exciting growth stage, which is usually related to the increasing use of diamond tools in woodworking CNC machining.

He started his career in the production of synthetic diamonds at General Electric, where he held many technical positions and later became a senior manager in charge of mass production personnel. He left General Electric in 2009 to join Volmer, serving many of the same customers in the machine tool industry, and returned to diamond materials in the last five years of his career, representing Servsix and Element 6 products.

Ries is known for his deep technical knowledge and shared this knowledge with the industry, including in several articles he wrote for Wood & Wood Products magazine. He is an important partner of many people and companies in the industry, and he has become close personal friends with many of them. He has a deep enthusiasm for the industry and the people. Through direct participation and through the many industry associations and trade groups he has cooperated with, he has made a very important contribution to the success of the people and the company.

His career also includes serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Reese’s widow, Rhonda, has been married for 34 years; daughter, Jessica (Jim) Burke; son, Joshua Reis; grandchildren, Brody, Jasper, Carden, and Hayley; sisters , Karen (John) Botti, Kathy (Alan) Chapman; sister-in-law Christine Reese; brother, Gary (Marilyn) Reese; many nieces and nephews; other large families and friends, including Silverbacks. His father Robert "Bob" Reese died before him. Mother, Arline J. Ries; and brother Steve Ries.

His family fondly remembers his dedication to his wife and family, including his grandchildren. They like fishing, camping and sports activities. Reese even participated in family education.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Highland Baptist Church, 3460 Hoover Road, Grove, Ohio.
